  After stopping for over an hour 60kms East of Mt Isa for the kids to have a run around, I noticed water dripping under the car and thought it was odd for the aircon to still be dripping after so long. When I checked the oil, I decided to also check the radiator to find I couldn't see any water in it. It took around 2Ls to top up and I limped in to Mt Isa. The only place I could find was Miners Mate and it all went down hill from there. They replaced the radiator cap, turbo hose and water pump. When I went to pick up my vehicle, one worker backed a customers car against another vehicle scratching the drivers side. When I got just North of Toowoomba, I found a large puddle under my car and again had lost water from the radiator. The heater hose was replaced, got up the road ad had to stop yet again when the car started over heating. My dad told me to get the radiator cap checked which I did. The mechanic who replaced the cap at Miners Mate used one which was not rated for the radiator. A correct fitting one was put on but it was to late, I am now stuck with a vehicle with a cracked head that I cant afford to fix! They are RACQ approved mechanics, however I am reporting this incident to them with a formal complaint.

  Drove into Mt Isa with a brake warning light appearing on the instrument panel. Driving along the main street around 6pm and noticed the access door was still open at Miners Mate garage. The owner, Lawrence, was only too happy to come and check my Landcruiser there and then. He found a leaking brake line, and said he could get one sent overnight from Townsville.

  We were lucky enough to break down right at the entrance to Tobermory Station on the Plenty Hwy & limped in to their van park. Wendy in the office was super helpful and allowed us to use the station"s phone to call RACQ. They organised us to be towed into Mt Isa by Miners Mate., the local RACQ reps. This necessitated a 560klms round trip for them to retrieve our car & caravan, a dry & dusty trip with a short comfort stop at the Urandangie Pub. The guys at Miners Mate were fantastic, ordering the parts from Brisbane & fixing the problem in record time. We can't thank them enough, the service was great & all involved were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Well done guys, you rock!

  Our car was towed to Miner's Mate Mechanics after it broke down just before Mount Isa. We are so thankful for everything the crew has done for us! They totally understood our situation of being Backpackers, not having much money and wanting to go on as soon as possible. They had a look at the car as soon as possible, ordered the missing part and it was ready after 1 1/2 days! Everyone's really friendly and the price was reasonable. Thank you do much again!

  We had a vehicle that needed an urgent repair done to it. We phoned Miners Mate the day before we were to arrive in Mt Isa and explained our problem we were having with the Landcruiser. The guys at Miners Mate asked us to take a look at a couple of things while we were parked on the side of the road (in Richmond). They then worked out the possible cause of our fault & had parts brought in from Townsville to may our time off the road as short as possible. We arrived the next day and they had us back on the road in the afdternoon so we were able to continue with out travels. Well done to the guys at Miners Mate, we will be recomending them and the Repco Autherised service group to everyone we can.
